Who we are:
AK Sustainability takes care of sustainability at Gymnasium Munich Feldmoching. It consists of students - neither teachers nor other adults lead it!
Why is climate protection important?
Climate protection is important for our lives. Because global warming is already destroying thousands of lives, for example through extreme weather events such as floods or droughts. What were once called century events are no longer rare natural disasters today. Currently, approximately 3.3 billion people are threatened by the climate crisis, but also many animals that struggle to adapt to rising temperatures. At the same time, the environment is endangered by, for example, plastic waste in which birds, turtles, fish, etc. get tangled and die, or construction where many animals and plants lose their habitat. Among other reasons, 130-150 animal species die out daily! These were just some of the reasons why climate protection is essential and we are committed to it.

Why is upcycling so important?
Upcycling is an important part of sustainable living and means creating something new and valuable from old or discarded materials. Unlike recycling, the material is not processed industrially, but reused directly. This is particularly important because:
- less waste is produced
- no additional energy is needed for processing
- valuable resources are conserved
- it is a creative way to save money
- everyone can participate and contribute to environmental protection
Through upcycling, we can show that "trash" is often not trash at all, but valuable material for new, beautiful and useful things. This not only helps the environment but also is fun!
