Article How ClimateQuest works

ClimateQuest is an app, available as a website, on the App Store, and on the Play Store, that helps you motivate yourself to take more climate-friendly actions in your daily life.

The app offers the following features:

  1. Adding actions: After you have done something that benefits the climate, you can log this action in ClimateQuest and earn climate points for it. Actions you perform every week can be recorded automatically; for mobility-related activities, on the other hand, the kilometers can be tracked automatically by the app.
  2. Leveling up: Once you are registered with ClimateQuest, you are assigned a user level. Your level increases as you log more actions and, consequently, accumulate more climate points.
  3. Weekly goal and streak: You can set your own personal weekly goal and strive to achieve it every week thereafter. Your streak tracks how many consecutive weeks you have successfully met that goal.
  4. Comparing in families: If you want to compare your progress with other users, families offer a great way to do so: You can team up with friends, family members, acquaintances, or colleagues to form a family. Once formed, a ranking system is established among the family members, and you also gain access to a chat feature. This helps boost motivation to do even more for the climate.
  5. Comparing in communities: Multiple families can also join forces to form a community. Here, too, a ranking system is established—this time based on the average scores of the individual families within the community. This provides a significant additional boost to motivation, as you are no longer collecting climate points solely for yourself, but for your entire family. And, of course, a chat function is included here as well.
  6. Planting Trees: As soon as you have collected 500 climate points, you receive a credit that you can redeem to have the organization Plant-for-the-Planet plant a tree in Kenya on your behalf.
  7. Creating articles: If you already possess extensive knowledge regarding climate-related topics, you can share that expertise with others by writing articles. Anyone using the app can then view your articles and benefit from your knowledge. Creating events: If you are planning a large-scale public event, ClimateQuest can help you simplify the organization process: anyone can view the event details and attend your event. Furthermore, registered ClimateQuest users can join the event, giving you a rough idea of how many people to expect. And in case you happen to forget any crucial details, there is also a comment feature that allows others to ask questions about your event.
  8. Creating events: If you are planning a large-scale public event, ClimateQuest can help you simplify the organization process: anyone can view the listed details and participate in your event. Furthermore, registered ClimateQuest users can join the event, giving you a rough idea of how many people are planning to attend. And in case you happen to forget any crucial information, there is also a comment feature that allows others to ask questions about your event.
  9. Asking Questions in the forum: Not sure how to successfully plan an event, or what the best way is to make a positive impact on the climate as quickly as possible? Perhaps someone else has already gained experience with this very topic. By creating a forum post, you can ask others for help with your specific issue—someone is sure to come along soon who can offer assistance.
  10. Creating petitions: To bring political or economic changes, you can create and sign petitions.
  11. Induction into the Hall of Fame: The Hall of Fame features ClimateQuest’s top users. We regularly publish Quests (challenges such as Collect at least 50 climate points this week or Rank among the top 5 climate point collectors this month). Any user who successfully completes a challenge earns an entry in the Hall of Fame. Users who make it into the Hall of Fame multiple times are listed even higher up.
